All in

It was an incredible honor to be invited to create the visual identity for the 2025 Visual Communication Graduation Portfolio Show, working alongside Professor Josiah Spence and Marvin Jastillana — two mentors who have greatly inspired my journey at ACC. I’m also deeply grateful to Taylor Green, who supported me throughout the entire project.

Problem: The challenge was to design the visual identity and promotional materials for the Visual Communication graduation showcase — an event where students present their portfolios to professionals. The goal was to create a cohesive, engaging, and concept-driven experience that resonated with both the design community and attendees, while spotlighting the creative strength of the graduating class.

Solution: I developed a concept inspired by the phrase “All In,” drawn from the world of poker. The idea speaks to both the fun of games and the risk-taking nature of design. To bring this concept to life, I incorporated poker references subtly and progressively — inviting a sense of mystery and discovery throughout the visual system

Role: As the lead designer of the event identity, I was responsible for developing the concept, designing all visual materials, creating digital and print assets, and ensuring consistency across every touchpoint. I guided the design from strategy to execution, balancing playfulness with clarity to reflect both the high stakes and excitement of the graduating class.

MINDMAP

I began the creative process with a mind map, listing everything that came to mind about design. I focused deeply on the emotional side, letting it guide the theme. Passion is what brought me to design, and I wanted the concept to reflect that drive. As I explored the meaning of passion, I landed on the phrase “All In” — a poker term for betting everything you have, but also a powerful metaphor for full dedication, commitment, and the pursuit of a dream.

MOODBOARD

I drew inspiration from the vibrant colors and playful spirit of poker, incorporating symbols that reflect the energy of the game and the iconic imagery of playing cards.

ITERATIONS

I set out to create a sense of mystery, hiding the concept behind abstract visuals. Designed by and for designers, the identity invites curiosity and discovery — with each piece revealing a bit more of the story. Midway through the process, Swiss design principles inspired me to sharpen this layered, subtle approach.

FINAL THOUGHTS

all in

This project challenged me in unexpected ways. Having so much creative freedom was both exciting and demanding—it pushed me to think deeply about how to represent not just myself, but all of my graduating peers in a single, cohesive concept. I had to create something that felt unified, yet allowed each deliverable to express its own unique voice within the bigger picture.

One of the most surprising parts of the process was realizing that, even though web design and motion are my passions, building the webpage turned out to be one of the toughest parts. Still, this project reminded me why I love what I do. Despite the challenges, I’m proud of how All In captures both our collective identity as designers and my personal growth throughout the experience.
